StreetWise in Trouble.
Very bad news out of Chicago today. StreetWise may be in danger of closing its doors.
"Can the city become more than a vast prison of unconnected cells in which people of different occupations, color, class, and creed fail to understand one another on the basic issues of human life? By helping to build stronger and more inviting community processes, civic journalism can help shape future communities in which people more effectively share their perceptions of problems and a collective vision of what their communities could become" (Stamm, 2001, p. 223)?
